Harrisville keeps every courtroom Alcona County has. The 81st District Court handles traffic tickets, misdemeanors, and small civil disputes there, while felonies and larger lawsuits move to the 23rd Circuit Court, where the county clerk keeps the files. Begin an Alcona County court docket search with the statewide case search, using a party name or case number, and note which court the result names. Probate matters, such as estates and guardianships, have their own register down the hall. When an entry looks incomplete or a hearing date matters, call the court that holds the case and ask the clerk to read the newest entries.

Alcona County MiCOURT Search Fields

MiCOURT works best when you start broad, then tighten the results with docket details. The public name form has one hard rule. It asks for a Last Name or Business value of at least two characters. First name, middle name, and a four-digit birth year are optional. You get a birth year field, not a full date of birth. On the case-number route, Number is required while Case Year and Type stay optional.

The statewide MiCOURT interface adds case-status and category filters. For Alcona County, Civil covers domestic and family matters. Criminal/Traffic/Civil Infractions handles citations and criminal cases. Juvenile is not a public category. Alcona's setup includes a Professional Number tab, but that is not a public name search.

What a Court Docket Shows

Michigan court rules call this chronological record the case history or register of actions; most people say docket. An Alcona County public result opens with a header. There you may see the case ID, title, court location, judge, filed date, status, and a disposition or closed date when configured. Parties, charge or civil-case details, a balance, and a next hearing can appear too.

The event history supplies what one status label cannot. Entries may carry an event date, description, judge, attorney, clerk entry, hearing detail, receipt information, or a result. Public display is limited, though. A missing field means little. The court file may still hold that information, and a web result never guarantees that a document image is open to the public.

Case IDThe court's identifier, often a year, number, and type combination.
Case titleThe public case caption or entitlement where disclosure is allowed.
Case statusA current state such as open, disposed, or closed, separate from the result.
Next HearingThe displayed upcoming date, time, type, officer, or location when entered.
Event historyThe chronological record of filings, settings, orders, and other court activity.
DispositionA recorded outcome or date, not a substitute for the full judgment.

Alcona County Court Docket Terms

The exact words on the public record help when a case resists a docket search. Status, balance, and hearing are three different parts of the file. For past activity, read the chronological case history. For a future setting, the Next Hearing field is your best public clue. Local code lists are not published. Trust full event descriptions over guessed abbreviations.

Case history or register of actions
The chronological list of activity recorded in a case.
Disposition
The result entered for a case or charge, such as a dismissal, plea, or judgment.
Next Hearing
The currently displayed upcoming setting in MiCOURT case detail.
Bindover
The district-court step that can move a felony case into circuit court.
Certified copy
A copy the clerk certifies as matching the official record.

Which Courts Keep Dockets

Alcona County court records sit with separate courts, not one county-only public portal. The county court list lays out the local structure. Traffic, ordinance, misdemeanor, preliminary-examination, small-claims, and limited-civil matters belong to the 81st District Court. The 23rd Circuit Court, Alcona Division, takes felonies after bindover, larger civil matters, domestic matters, and qualifying appeals.

Probate and juvenile files live on their own register under different access rules. Match the notice to the right court. Do the same for the case type. Make that call before starting an Alcona County court docket search. The offices share the Harrisville building. Yet the keeper of the record changes with the court and record type.

Alcona County Court Docket Routes

A felony can leave more than one local trail. It usually starts in the 81st District Court for lower-court proceedings and a preliminary examination. After bindover, the 23rd Circuit Court record becomes the one to watch. Under Michigan's post-July 2, 2024 rule treatment, the district record can turn nonpublic after bindover. The circuit record stays open. Keep both identifiers and ask the clerk which record is current.

MiFILE plays a different part. MiFILE is Michigan's login-based electronic filing service, not a public case-history viewer. Government Payment Services and the county's AllPaid route are payment tools too. They are not docket searches. A payment confirmation is none of those things. It stands in for neither a court case history, a disposition, nor a certified copy.

Record route: notice or citation › MiCOURT case search › correct court field › court-specific clerk for official copies.

Finding Court Dates and Settings

A case detail can list the Next Hearing date, time, and type. Comments, hearing officer, and location may appear too. The public MiCOURT Court Display offers a separate date-based calendar. Its columns show Party Name, Time, Room, and Case Number. Match a calendar row to the case history through the case number.

One calendar row does not replace the current court setting. An older row can linger in history after a continuance or reset. Compare the notice, the case-detail Next Hearing block, and the calendar. If they clash, the clerk or court administrator can confirm the setting. The court can say whether it moved, was cancelled, or changed rooms. The full procedure for a date search sits on the Alcona County court calendar page.

Note: The county publishes no separate daily or weekly Alcona docket PDF. No remote-hearing link or local reset-code glossary exists either.

Alcona County Court Calendar Checks

Start with the Court Display itself. It opens on a date control. A blank day means only that nothing is set for that date. An empty screen is never a ruling on the case. The event may sit on another day. The case may not be public, the court may have moved the hearing, or the calendar may simply have refreshed after a change.

Need a faster calendar answer? Call the court that owns the case. The 81st District Court lists 989-724-9500. Rose Butkovich handles circuit assignment clerk and court recorder duties and is listed at 989-724-9490. The County Clerk and Circuit Court Clerk share 989-724-9410. Have the case number ready. Ask for the latest setting, and confirm whether any notice has replaced the public display.

Public Access to Dockets

Michigan Court Rule 8.119 makes case records public. A statute, court rule, or order can restrict them. MiCOURT helps with public case history. It omits or masks protected information, though. For a filed document, a certified copy, or a confusing restricted result, the court clerk remains the right source. One caution: a court record request is not the same thing as a county administrative-record request.

Key Rules:

MCR 8.119 explains public access, copies, case history, sealing, and retention for court records.

MCR 1.109 protects personal identifiers through filing and redaction rules.

Michigan FOIA governs covered county records, but it is not the regular route for judicial case files.

Alcona County Court Docket Limits

MiCOURT keeps several protected categories out of ordinary public search. Juvenile and child-protective proceedings are excluded. So are adoptions, mental-illness matters, name changes, personal protection orders, and wills. Public displays also mask protected personal information. So a missing result is not proof a case never existed. It is also not a reason to press a county FOIA office for a restricted court file.

When a public case shows a missing document, ask the clerk directly. The item may be sealed. It may be protected by personal-information rules, not imaged, or available for inspection at the counter. Older criminal results can also run into the portal's seven-year sentence filter at applicable courts. The clerk can explain the public route. Only the court can determine access to a nonpublic record.

The Clerk and Docket Records

The elected County Clerk doubles as Clerk of the Circuit Court. District and probate staff keep their own court records. Stephany Eller is listed as County Clerk, and Brooke Sommer as Circuit Court Clerk. The 81st District works differently. Courtney Bachelor handles criminal clerk and magistrate work there. Devin Jagelewski handles district civil-clerk duties.

All of these functions sit in the County Building. Call ahead and name your court and case type first. Published building hours run Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A noon to 1:00 p.m. lunch closure applies. Confirm counter availability before you travel, especially for an older file or a certified copy.

Alcona County Court Docket Copies

When you ask for a copy, give the case number, court location, event date, and document description. The clerk can then say what fits your request. Options include a plain public copy, a certified copy, a certified case history, or an inspection. Statewide records standards describe a certified-copy framework of $1 per page plus a $10 certification fee under MCL 600.2546. The responsible Alcona clerk must confirm the current charge and page count.

A transcript is a different animal. It comes from the court reporter or recorder, not automatically from the clerk. The cited statewide framework caps transcript copies at $0.90 per page. The reporter provides the actual quote and timing. County administrative records follow their own track. Alcona's FOIA materials describe a separate request process. They expressly distinguish records held solely in the Circuit Clerk role.

Alcona County Court Docket Activity

Alcona is a small county. Its circuit court record is still active. The official 2023 SCAO circuit report lists a total circuit caseload of 107, with 71 dispositions and 36 matters pending at year end. Domestic relations and adult personal-protection-order work are reported separately. So those figures should not be read as a countywide count of every district or traffic case.

1072023 Alcona circuit total caseload
712023 circuit dispositions
362023 circuit matters pending at year end

The lesson is simple. Never infer a countywide record from one report. The court field and case type still control the search route, because traffic, limited civil, probate, and juvenile access each follow different disclosure rules.

Court Dockets by City in Alcona County

The 2020 official Michigan table lists two incorporated places in Alcona County. These are Harrisville city and Lincoln village. Neither official profile identifies a separate municipal trial court or city docket portal. City traffic and ordinance matters that become court cases route to the 81st District Court. A city clerk can help identify a local-government record. The district clerk, though, maintains the court case history and certified court records.

That page is handy when a court name on a notice does not match what a docket search returns.

The county also publishes pages describing how its offices and courts are organized. That helps you see where a given record lives.
